MEDICAL TERMINOLOGY

You will learn Latin and Greek word parts.

You will learn prefixes, suffixes, word roots,  medical abbreviations, anatomical directions, cavities, regions, basic human anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, and gain a compreshenison of terminology related to medical procedures.

WORLD HEALTH RESEARCH

You will examine major world health problems and emerging technologies as solutions to these medical concerns.

This project based class will include: communicable and noncommunicable diseases, trends in healthcare, health education and culture, environmental health and natural disasters, careers in healthcare.

HEALTH SCIENCE THEORY

You will learn basic anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, medical career exploration, leadership and teamwork, and basic patient care skills.

You will have the opportunity to become American Heart Association HeartSaver First Aid CPR/AED certified in this course.

PRACTICUM IN HEALTH SCIENCE (CLINICAL ROTATION I)

An APPLICATION ONLY, full year/double block course.

 

You will delve deeper into human anatomy and physiology, medical terminology & medical career exploration.

​

This class offers an opportunity for you to experience an unpaid clinical rotation internship at local medical facilities.

​

You will learn the Texas Certified Nurse Aide Curriculum, and have the opportunity to take the Texas Certified Nurse Aide State Licensure Exam.

 

You will also have the opportunity to become American Heart Association BLS CPR certified.

PRACTICUM IN HEALTH SCIENCE 1

An APPLICATION ONLY, full year/double block course.

 

You will build upon your previous medical knowledge.

 

This class offers further opportunities for you to experience unpaid clinical rotation internships at local medical facilities in areas of personal and particular interest to you.

 

You will learn the National Healthcareer Association Pharmacy Technician curriculum, and have the opportunity to take the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam.

 

You will learn the OSHA 10 Hour curriculum, and obtain the OSHA 10 Hour certification in this course and will re-certify your American Heart Association BLS CPR certification.
